The house is wearing its autumnal best!

A few days shy of October in the foothills of Central California and it hints at fall in the morning and evening hours.

The afternoons have still been WAY too warm but I have been watching my weather app like a broker watches the stock market and there is a cooling trend about a week off.

This is by no means sweater weather as it will still be 75-80 degrees. But this is actually my FAVORITE kind of fall weather.

I guess it’s more like Indian Summer.

Whatever you want to call it, me and especially my garden, LOVE it. Cool air, warm sun, breezes, and blue skies!

The birds are active and the bees still wake me early with their busy work in the flowering shrubs outside my bedroom door.

It is the gentle goodbye of the fading summer sun. These are the days when my girls and I are more outside than inside.

But eventually, we do have to come indoors and when we do, we want the glowing warmth of autumn to follows us!

So come take a look around and see how we do that here in our home on our first annual Fall Home Tour!

Let’s start at the front door! I used to feel guilty putting potted mums at the front door when the yard has so much color already.

But I want all the plants, everywhere, all the time.

I have also designated a section in my yard for transplanting these guys once they have finished blooming, double-duty!

This door gets a lot of action in our home, in and out in and out! I always appreciate the coat rack as the temperatures take a shift and layers need to be accessible.

The first piece of furniture that draws your eye and always tugs at my heart is my grandmother’s piano.

A few years back my mom, the girls, and I drove to my grandparent’s home in Arizona, rented a U-Haul, and drove back with this treasure!

The girls are learning to play, I enjoy trying to REMEMBER how to play, and in between, we enjoy decorating it!

Look at this beautiful bench cushion, it really goes well with the autmn colors!

Our home has a comfortable, open floor plan. Not too big but not too small. The living room takes center stage and has a “sit down and stay awhile” feel.

Rustic elements make it feel lived in and causal. I like layering a table runner across the coffee table for interest and pattern play.

I have a box of differently sized birch rounds (compliments of my dad again). This one is a favorite because it fits my cloiche perfectly!

Hey! Someone stole my chair while I was busy! Something tells me that some ear scratching will convince her to share.

This ladder was a fun find at my parent’s house. It had been well used, splattered with maroon paint, and discarded to a corner of a metal barn.

Some pressure washing and cream spray paint did the trick and now its an almost permanent installment in this cute little cubby.

Looking for some cozy throws? Here are some inexpensive options! Tan and the black would look good year-round!

Here’s our school corner. I like the convenience of this corner of the house. Everything we use on a routine basis is within reach, but easy to keep tidy also!

Fall House Tour,

People have asked if I got a new kitchen table because in previously shared photos my table is oval and has a bench on one side. But I haven’t!

Last fall before a church gathering I took the extra leaf out and brought it down to this size, the bench is along the back of the couch making a convenient place to set things like coats, purses, and bags when we have guests (also to fold laundry!)

I like the way it lightened up the smallish dining area and it isn’t hard to enlarge when I have more people for a meal! Plus, isn’t a round table just so cute?

This wooden bowl is another contribution from my daddy. Honestly didn’t realize there was so much of it until I started itemizing!

Ah the kitchen, the heart of the home!

I have certainly had bigger kitchens over the years, but I am making this one work for me! Just don’t stand in front of the sink when I’m trying to cook!

I love my big window full of flowers! I installed this shelf over the kitchen window to give it a custom, cottage feel and for space to add decor.

Last of all the laundry room. Wait. I’m taking my guests to see my laundry room? Yes, indeed.

The day we installed the shelf above the kitchen window, I also had one put up here in the laundry room.

The house I had left behind in the city had not one but TWO fireplace mantels. It was a beautiful double-sided gas fireplace. I was in decorating heaven with two mantels to design.

So when we moved here, I was distressed. Silly I know. But I have a need to design and decorate deep inside me.

So I came up with the idea of installing shelves to fulfill that need. And you guys, they are kinda everywhere. My mom and I jokingly refer to this as the “Laundry Room Mantel”. But hey, I use it for storage too!

Let’s just walk through the last door, there is a corner of the hall bathroom that gets some pumpkins too. The girls like that I include this corner of their bathroom in my fall scheme!

So that completes my Fall Home Tour! I am so happy to have shared it with you! Enjoy the beautiful days ahead, revel in God’s goodness at creating this season for us to enjoy!

I hope you will subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss my weekly posts. Decorating is only one of my fun, homemaking topics!

Love it all! So cozy. I’m living vicariously through you since we are in our RV for the moment and there isn’t a lot of space for decorating.
